When does a supplier suit Achmea?

Achmea wants to know if a supplier suits it. We conduct a supplier assessment to determine this. The form, content and depth of the assessment varies by service or product. We also determine the assessment based on policy and/or regulations.

Socially responsible procurement

Achmea uses its cooperative identity to contribute to a safe, healthy and future-proof society. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plays a key role in Achmea’s business operations. Achmea expects every supplier it works with to contribute to its sustainable entrepreneurship ambition.

Supplier Due Diligence

As a financial institution, Achmea has an important role as a gatekeeper in the financial system. Under the Financial Supervision Act (Wft), the Sanctions Act (Sw), and, in some cases, the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft), Achmea must investigate all of its business relations, including suppliers. Part of this investigation involves identifying the ultimate beneficial owner (UBO). These investigations are conducted by the Achmea Know Your Customer (KYC) Centre. As part of these investigations, suppliers may receive requests to provide additional information.

Sustainability performance assessment

Achmea expects every company it works with to contribute to its sustainable entrepreneurship ambition. For example, we aim to procure 100% circular and energy-efficient products and materials for internal operations by 2030. We also critically examine our partners and suppliers with regard to labour law, human rights and ethics.

As part of socially responsible procurement, Achmea wants to have insight into and be able to track the sustainability performance of its suppliers. To that end, Achmea uses EcoVadis, a platform for assessing and tracking suppliers’ CSR performance. This gives Achmea better insight into the sustainability performance of its suppliers. The platform also provides clear insight into legislative and regulatory developments and their impact on reportable sustainability performance. This allows us to examine how our shared sustainability goals can best be achieved. Suppliers can sign up with EcoVadis.

Digital platform for supplier information

The legislation concerning compliance and risk management for financial service providers like Achmea is becoming more complex and demanding. Fulfilling all obligations requires in-depth knowledge of suppliers. In addition to our own research, Achmea uses Hellios Information B.V.'s platform FSQS-NL (Financial Services Qualification System-Netherlands) as an online tool for assessing new and existing suppliers. This online platform makes enables us to collect important supplier data in one place. Such data includes annual reports, assurance statements and certificates. We ask all suppliers or potential suppliers to sign up for this platform. For more information, please visit the Hellios website. If you have any questions, please contact Hellios.
