Financial resilience

Financial resilience is important for everyone, especially in times of uncertainty and change. Anyone can face unexpected financial challenges, such as l job loss or high medical expenses, which can lead to stress and anxiety.

We believe that enhancing financial resilience is part of our role as a financial service provider. Our partnership with the Stichting Financiële Gezondheid Nederland (SFGN) (Netherlands Financial Health Foundation) underlines this ambition. By collaborating with partners, we can contribute to systemic change and improve financial health in the Netherlands, both for our customers and our employees.

Financial resilience is not only about practical skills such as budgeting and saving, but also about having the confidence to face and overcome difficult situations. We contribute to this by:

  • Providing information and raising awareness. Leveraging our broad reach and network through campaigns, education and information, such as LEF (a programme for young people) and Bank voor de Klas (Bank in the Classroom), as well as with a pension platform.
  • Being there when financial difficulties arise with financial solutions;, for example offereing reintegration support or referrals to GeldFit (an organisation that helps people with money-related concerns and questions)
  • Contributing through ‘social debt collection’; for example, providing payment arrangements, participating in the initiative ‘De buurtrechter’ (‘Neighbourhood Judge’), and our commitment to social debt collection agreement framework of the SFGN.

We also recognise that an increasing number of young people are experiencing pressure on their mental and financial health. Finding housing or starting on the labour market with equal opportunities has become more difficult. That is why we pay extra attention to young people by joining forces with organisations like LEF, Bank voor de Klas (Bank in the Classroom) and JINC to help them gain financial skills and discover their talents.
